Auditions for SYF

Hi all,

Great job guys on yesterday's CCA maze performance. I think we impressed quite a lot of parents and about 30 Sec 1 students have signed up to join band. Great job, especially to the mascots for giving out flyers and the sec 3 who made the posters and the decorations. Special thanks to the TIC and Fredy for helping out with the materials needed for CCA maze and lastly thanks to all of you, MSSB members for performing well.

Back to Band matters, the 2nd SYF auditions will be held at 4th February for woodwinds and 7th February for brasses and percussion. As such, all please practice hard and those who fail the auditions will not be performing for SYF so all please practice hard.

The order for 4th February auditions will be:
1. Flute
2. Clarinet
3. Oboe
4. Saxes
5. Bassoon

The order for the 7th February auditions will be:
1. Trumpet
2. Horn
3. Euphonium
4. Trombone
5. Tubas/Double bass
6.Percussion

Audition Pieces:
1. Overture
2. TMC

So, all please do work hard so as to play better music and pass the auditions to be with the band and play for SYF. Jia You!

Seriously, everyone have to practise. The band dont sound really good. Its seriously a bronze standard only. Can we please work hard and improve together for this 3 months or so? Lets work hard for MSSB's very FIRST Gold with Honours! Getting that award would mean more budget for new instruments and accessories. Havent most of you been complaining with your instruments? Then please work hard and improve on your playing! 3 months is really a very short time. Even before you know it, you will be already at the backstage of SCH in full band uniform getting ready to go on stage and perform. So ALL please work hard. As most of the seniors have said, a band sounds only as good as its weakest link! Even if we cannot get Gold with Honours, a Gold award is a must as we have to sustain the standard of the band as a gold band since 2005! So a third consecutive gold will be a great achievement! So all please Jia You especially those who still cannot play your own parts!

Lastly, the new EXCO and respective section leaders(sec 3) and Assistant section leaders(sec 2) for the year 09/10 will be announced on Wednesday(14 Jan 2009). So all sec 3 and sec 2 please be present because you never know which sec 3s and 2s from each section will be leaders of the section!

Also, the MSSB blog tagboard have been restored and the EXCO including alumnus, and teacher hope that no one would do silly and childish stuff and start spamming the band blog tagboard. Once spamming occur again, tagboard will be suspended once again.

Next band practice will be at 230pm on Wednesday. All woodwinds also take note that there will be no woodwind sectionals due to the release of the O levels results tomorrow.
