4th and 7th Feb Auditions

To All Main Band members,

After hearing what you all have played in yesterday's practice, all I can say is... you all sound from bad to worst. It does sound like a bunch of primary school kids trying to play out certain notes. To stop all these unpleasant sounds, we have decided to cut till the very least number of people to go for SYF. This is to make sure we secure at least a bronze this SYF. Disappointing and sad but we have no choice.

This will be the numbers that we will allow for SYF 2009.

Woodwinds

Flute: 3 (4 if section is good enough)
Oboe: 1
Bassoon: 1
Clarinet: 6
Bass Clarinet: 2
Saxophone: 4 (5 if the section member is good enough)

Brass

Trumpet: 4
Horn: 4
Euphonium: 2 (3 if the section member is good enough)
Trombone: 3
Tuba: 2 (3 if section member is good enough)

Percussion: 7

Please take note that these numbers will ONLY change, if the number of players that exceed our expectation is more than the stated number. That means if you play well and outperform you will be allowed to go for SYF. The numbers we have provided is the LEAST number of people to go for SYF if everyone played badly. So UNLESS you start to think you can't make it, if not I don't see why some juniors can't outperform their seniors. Seniors=/=good.

Overture: Full marks : 100
TMC: Full marks: 100
Total : Full marks: 200
% = 200/2

e.g =

Overture: 70/100
TMC: 80/100
Total: 150/200
% = 75%
